we are green certified

EarthCraft House is a voluntary green building program of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association.

It was developed through a partnership with SouthFace Energy Institute, and government & industry leaders. The EarthCraft program serves as a blueprint for healthy, comfortable homes that reduce utility bills and protect the environment. The aim of the program is to help Atlanta’s home builders be leaders in smart growth management and environmental stewardship.

WHY GO GREEN

It’s easier on the earth, it lowers heating and cooling costs, and it provides a healthier home in which to live. According to the Sustainable Building Industry Council (SBIC), housing alone consumes 20% of America’s energy. Homeowners who choose to remodel green can lower their energy consumption by 30-50%. It’s widely agreed that forests produce 40% of Earth’s oxygen, and that building supplies use 25% of its forests. Remodeling green by incorporating recycled materials or sustainable species will help homeowners to tread more lightly on Earth’s natural resources.

Green remodeling is becoming more popular as homeowners consider health issues, skyrocketing energy costs and Earth’s natural resources. More than 15 million Americans are estimated to have asthma, including one-in-13 school-age children, and more than 28 million Americans suffer from hay fever and other allergies, all of which are aggravated by poor indoor air quality.

As members of the EarthCraft House program, Home ReBuilders is committed to making a difference by offering you a choice in the type of renovation or new custom home you build.

BENEFITS

There are many benefits to building green:

  • Savings on health, repair and operating costs
  • Healthier living conditions
  • Conservation of resources and energy
  • Improved air and water quality, making for a healthier environment
  • Quiet and durable

Owning an environmentally friendly house does not mean making sacrifices. In fact, an EarthCraft House is one of the most high-efficiency homes you can buy or build. An EarthCraft House may cost a little more up front, but the combined savings in lower monthly utility and maintenance costs often more than make up for it, with return of value in just a few years. Resales are much higher than a comparable home with no such value. The special energy-efficient requirements of an EarthCraft House result in energy savings of as much as 30 percent.
